Our scouts earned 3 hours of conservation service toward their advancement for Life and are one step closer to earning the National Outdoor Award for Conservation.
From James Hazard, Trail Boss at Placerita Canyon:
"Thanks for the great Boy Scouts and Adult Scout Leaders. Everyone did a terrific job today. After an overview of tools and safety concerns we worked on cleaning out 1,000 feet of a drainage ditch that courses through the north side of the grounds. It was overgrown with 10 years of duff, scree and shrubs. Because of the Sand Fire east of the Nature Center it is vital we prepare for the winter rains and clear out all of the tributaries to the Placerita Canyon Creek that empties into the Santa Clara River that empties into the Pacific."
