One of the duties our troop performs is the retirement of U.S. flags. On June 22, 1942, Congress passed a resolution codifying the Flag Code in U.S. Code Title 36 Chapter 10. The Flag Code provides that when the flag “is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, [it] should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." Our scouts properly and respectfully retired several U.S. flags at the troop meeting on September 25, 2017.
